Homemade Orange Marmalade Recipe

  • Prep Time: 20 minutes
  • Cook Time: 1 hour, 30 minutes
  • Total Time: 1 hour, 50 minutes

Instructions

  • Squeeze the juice from the oranges and lemons after cutting them in half.
  • Remove the fruit's pith and seeds and wrap them in cheesecloth.
  • Peel the orange and lemon into thin strips.
  • In a large pot, bring the fruit juice, water, and cheesecloth bundle to a boil.
  • Reduce the heat to low and leave to simmer for 1 hour.
  • Remove the cheesecloth bundle and sprinkle with sugar.
  • Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  • Increase the heat to high and continue to cook for 20-25 minutes, or until the mixture reaches 220°F on a candy thermometer.
  • Remove from the heat and set aside for a few minutes to cool.
  • Allow the marmalade to cool completely in sterilized jars.
